Calculators and references for futures day traders. Work out your position size, check how much room a prop firm drawdown leaves you, and look up tick values — all in your browser.

Futures Position Size Calculator

Enter your account size, risk percent and stop distance to get the number of contracts that keeps one loss inside your risk limit.

  • ES, NQ, YM, RTY, CL, GC and micros
  • Profit target and break-even win rate
  • Optional max-contracts cap

Futures Tick Value Chart

Tick size, tick value and point value for 17 popular futures, with a converter that turns any move into dollars.

  • Equity index, energy, metals, rates and FX
  • Ticks or points, any number of contracts
  • Micro and mini side by side

Educational tools, not financial advice. Contract specifications are standard exchange values and prop firm rules vary and change, so confirm details with the exchange, your broker or your firm. Futures trading involves substantial risk of loss.

How the tools fit together

The three tools answer the three questions behind every trade. Used in order, they take you from a price move to a position you can actually afford:

  1. What is a move worth? Look up the tick and point value in the futures tick value chart. A 10-point move is $500 per contract on ES and $50 on MES.
  2. How many contracts? Enter your account, risk percent and stop into the position size calculator. It rounds down to whole contracts so one stopped-out trade stays inside your risk.
  3. Can the account take it? On a prop firm evaluation, check the result against your drawdown with the prop firm drawdown calculator. It shows how many losing trades you can absorb before the floor.

The tools link to each other: the drawdown calculator hands your dollar risk to the position size calculator, and both use the same contract values as the chart.
